Senior Citizen Protest Against The Budget Cuts Taking Place Today

The Irish Citizens Senior Parliament are holding a protest rally outside the Dail this afternoon against cuts made in last weeks budget. Today’s demonstration is to protest against several measures in last weeks budget which directly affect the elder members of our population. There is a general opinion, that senior citizens were one of the most targeted groups in last weeks budget, with the increase to prescription charges, lowering of income levels for medical cards, removal of the telephone allowance and the removal of the bereavement grant.

The Irish Senior Citizens Parliament urges all older, younger and people across the lifecycle to join us tomorrow at 1.15pm outside Dáil Éireann.  Make a special effort to be there alone or with friends and family. Together we can make things happen, apart we will stand divided. Let’s show that the poor, the sick, the old, the young, the frail and disabled can stand up and be counted.

People from all across the country tell us they are travelling in numbers. Hopefully that is true but to make sure you will need to be there too. Don’t leave it to someone else.”
